I have heard and seen a lot of people talking about how Sam Beam is a sell out , I have even seen it on this site in some of the discussions.

I firmly disagree , the majority of the people who are saying this are basing their opinion on the fact that he has signed to Warner Bros. Just because he has made a step up in the music world , does not mean he should be deemed with such a foul term. I doubt the majority of people who have said this about Sam have even the slightest idea how hard it is to make a living in the record industry , especially when you are being yourself and staying true.

Like a lot of people , He has a family , would you not better your job if you could? To be a better provider for those you care about most? Yes , you would. So it is fair for him to be able to better his career , it is no different than any of us moving up in the ranks at our jobs. We are all trying to do the same thing , make a living.

At the end of the day , you fans should be happy that Sam is getting the recognition that he deserves.

Musicians must grow & evolve as time passes. If they don't get the emotional freedom & monetary support they need from a good label their music & lives will suffer. I've been there so I know. None of us has read his label contract & know it's stipulations. Just be glad he can make music that he loves on his own terms. Sam created this world of Iron And Wine... We are just visiting so shut up & enjoy.

I have grown tired of the habit people have of picking things apart like vultures if the are not fond of it. It is one thing to dislike something ( it's all opinion , think as you wish ) , but to put him down publicly on his own website or facebook page? That is terribly ignorant.

I totally agree. I love all of his music & think the new stuff is fresh. It's different & not for everyone but by no means is he selling out. Look at Neil Young. He makes music he likes & probably could give a shit what everyone thinks. Hats off to Sam for taking chances & experimenting. That's what art & music is all about, creativity. The fans have every right to dislike Sam's music but to say he's selling out is ridiculous.

I am glad that he has went in a few different directions with his musical talent , it keeps things interesting , that's for sure! I just hope he knows that the real fans are happy with what he is doing.

And those complaining now would just make a stink if he kept doing the same thing , going on about repetitiveness.. I guarantee it..

Whether he's playing solo acoustic music, or experimenting with a full band with a horn section and electric pianos, Sam is making music that HE wants to make. If you're not on board with that, then go back and listen to 'Creek Drank The Cradle' over and over again and go away. Reading these reviews of recent live shows is ridiculous, with people actually surprised by the shows. Why would you go to a show and expect a solo acoustic show for an artist who just released a very eclectic mix of songs and sounds, played by mostly a full band? WTF? Take what Sam is offering and be thankful that someone is making music from the heart.
