Iron and Wine stopped by the studios of New York public radio station WNYC yesterday to perform a few songs from the new album, Ghost on Ghost, on Soundcheck and talk with host John Schaefer about the new album, which was recorded over two weeks in Brooklyn. IFC Center Screening of Mike Leigh's "Naked"

Iron and Wine will swing by the IFC Center in New York City on Thursday, April 25, at 7 PM, for a chat after the screening of Mike Leigh's 1993 film Naked. It's the latest in The Modern School of Film's series FILM:ACOUSTIC, which invites special guests to present and discuss a favorite movie.

Iron and Wine Featured in New York Times

Iron and Wine, aka singer-songwriter Sam Beam, spoke with New York Times writer James C. McKinley Jr. about the evolution of his songwriting, culminating in Iron and Wine's just-released fifth studio album, Ghost on Ghost.

"Some of the tracks on the new LP are built over jazz rhythms and walking bass lines; others are constructed over funk beats," writes the Times' McKinley. "The songs feature Motown chord progressions with R&B horn lines, string parts and rich layered backup harmonies reminiscent of John Lennon and Paul McCartney’s late arrangements.
